RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
OPPOSING SENATE .BILL 402 (BURTON)
WHEREAS, the Town of Los Gatos recognizes and abides by the provisions of the
Meyers-Milias-Brown Act; and,
WHEREAS, the Town has adopted a procedure to resolve negotiation impasses
through Resolution 1974-41; and;
WHEREAS, current law prohibits strikes by firefighters, and an appellate case
decision also prohibits strikes by peace officers; and,
WHEREAS, Senate Bi11402 (Burton) would impose mandatory, binding arbitration
on the Town; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 402 (Burton) could impact the ability of the Town Council
to establish budget priorities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, .State of California, that the Town Council opposes Senate Bill
402 {Burton).

California, held on the 21st day of June, 1999 by the .following vote:
