BONES AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES
THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS DOES ORDAIN AS
Section 1. Rules and regulations for the erection, eon=
struction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, con-
version, demolition, occupancy, equipment, use, height., area,
and Fa in.tenance of buildings and structures having been printed
as a code in book form, said code being entitled, "Pacific Coast
Building Officials Conference aa.form. Building Code," 1940 Edition,
three,-copies of said code with the appendix thereto, together with
three copies of the "Specification Documents" therein referred to,
having been filed, for use and examination of the public, in the
office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Los Gatos, reference being
hereby made to saidcode and appendix for all the regulations2
provisions, .conditions, terms, and requirements therein shown, said
regulations:, provisions, conditions, terms, and requirements are,
and said code is, together with the appendix, excepting Chapter LS
thereof, hereby adopted as and for the Building Code of the town of
Los Gatos.

Section 2® Ordinance/199 of the Town of Los Gatos entitled,
"An ordinance providing for Fire Limits and the Construction and
Equipment of Buildings in the Town of Los ua.tos'12 passed and adopted
on the 17th day of September, 1923, and all ordinances amendatory
thereof, be 2 and the same area hereby repealed.
Section 3e For the purposes of said code, the entire
Town is hereby declared to be, and is hereby established as, a fire
district, and said fire distract shall be known and designated as
Fire Zone 2 and Fire Zone 3; that Fire :one 2 shall be all that por-
tion of the Town, the exterior boundary lines of which are described
as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center
line of Elm Street with the center line of University Avenue, in
the Town of Los Gatos, California and running thence along the
center line of Elm Street, N. 62 aeg. W. 200.00 feet to the center
line of the S. P. R. R. Company's right of way, thence along the
center line of said right of way, N. 32 deg. 51E., 250.00 feet
and N. 20 deg. 151 E., 240 feet to the point of intersection of the
center line of the S. P. R. R. Compnny's right of way, with the
center line of Gray's Lane and running thence along the center line
of Gray's Lane N. 66 deg. 48t tW., 92.00 feet and running thence
N. 20 deg. 03e W., 192.00 feet, and running thence parallel with the
center line of Santa Cruz Avemte and 153 feet therefrom N. 20 deg.
15° E., 1275 feet to a point in the center line of Saratoga avenue,
and running thence along the center line of Saratoga Avenue, N. 55-
deg. 121 W., 364.00 feet to the point which is the point of inter-
section of the center line of Saratoga Avenue with the center lime
of the alleys running through Blocks 1 and 2 of the Almond Grove
Addition produced Northeasterly, and running thence along said
Nottheasterly projection of said center line and along the center
line of gatd alleys, S. 20 deg. 151 W., 1819.00 feet to the point
of intersection of said center line of said alleys with the center
line of Bean Avenue, and running thence S. 20 deg. 18$ w. 128.00
feet, thence S. 27 deg. 07' W., 416.80 feet to a point on the
dividing line between Lots 10 and 15, Bloch 1, of the L ncoh.a.Stb
division, and running thence along the dividing line between. Lots
10, 117 127 13, 14 and lot 15 of said ]@lock 1, Lyndon Subdivision,
N. 61 deg. 16 TV., 261.00 feet to &'4.point on the Easterly line of
Lyndon Avenue, and running thence along the Easterly n line of
lyndon Avenue, S. 20 deg. 181 Wt., 150.00 feet to a point on the
Northerly line of Main Street and running thence Southerly across
Main Street 50 feet to a point on the Southerly lime of Main. Street,
at the common corner for Lots 3 and 4, Block 3 of said Lyndon
Subdivision, and running thence along the dividing line between said
sots 3 and 4, Southwesterly 150 feet to the common corner for Lotd
3, 41 16 and 17, said Block 3, and running thence Southeasterly
along the line between Lots 1, 22 3, and 14, 15, and 16 of said
Bloch 3 and continuing Southeasterly aleng the Southeasterly pro-
jection of said line 325.00 feet, and running thence S. 29 deg. W.
crossing Broadway 350.00 feet, thence at right angl::es S. 61 deg. E.,
crossing South Santa Cruz Avenue and the Southern Pacific Xompany's
right of way 375 feet, thence N. 47 deg. E. 410 feet, thence crossing
Park Street, S. 50 deg. E. 500.00 Feet, thence due East 650 feet to
a point in the center line of Seanor Street, thence along the center
line of Seanor Street Northerly 185.00 feet to a point in the center
line of Rain Street, thence along the center line of Main Street,
Easterly, 75 feet to the center line of Mill Street, and running;
thence along the center lire of Mill Street, N. 30 deg. 301 E•: 264
feet, and running thencd N. 79 deg. 501 Wi., 400.00 feet, thence
N. 57 deg. W. 670 feet to a point in the center line of University
Avenue, and running thence along the center line of University
Avenue, N. 28 deg. 51 E., 225 feet to the place of beginning.

All of the rest of said Town shall be Fire Gone S
That there shall be no fire zone corresponding to
Fire Zone 1 in said code, and whenever Fire Zone 2 or Fire
Zone 3 is referred to in said code2 said reference shall be
construed as referring to Fire Zones 2 or 3 as herein es-
tablished, and the regulations and requirements of said code
insofar as they relate to Fire Zone 1 exclusively shall have
no application in the Town of Los Gatos.
Section 4® Whenever the words "the City, or the word
"Cityu is
used in said code,
said words
shall beheld
to mean
and refer
to the Town of Los
Gatos, and
whenever the
words
Building In.speetorO are used in said code, said words shall
be held to refer to the Building Inspector of the Town of
Los Gatos appointed by the Town Council.
Section 5® In the case.of any conflict between the
terms of said code, as adopted herein, and this ordinances
the terms of the ordinance shall be controlling.
Section 6® If any sections subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of said code, as adopted herein, or of this
ordinance, is, for any reason, declared to be tanconstitutional,
such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of said code or of this ordinance. The Town Zouncil
hereby declares that it would have adopted said code and passed
this ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause
or phrase of each irrespective of the fact that any one or more
sections, subsections' sentences, clauses or phrases of either,
be declared unconstitutional.
Section 7® It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to erect' construct, enlarge, alter, repair,
move, remove, demolish, convert, equip, use, occupy, or maintain
any building or structure or any portion of any building or
structure in the Town contrary to or in violation of any pro-
vision of said code, as herein adopted, or of this ordinance'

or to cease, pe mit, or suffer the sane to be done@
Section 8o Any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of said code,. as adopted herein,
or of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdem or
and each such person, firm or corporation shall be guilty of a
separate offense for each and every day, or portion thereof.
during which any violation of any of the said provisions of
said code, or of this ordinance, is committed, continued or
permitted, and, upon conviction thereof, sha;1 be punished by
a fine of not more than THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300®00), or
by imprisonment in the County Jail for not more than three (3)
months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section . Ordinance No. 248 of the Town of Los
Gatos entitled "An Ordinance of the Town of Los Gatos Regulating
the erection, enlargement or Alteration of Buildings within that
portion of the Business District of said Town Lying without the
Eire Limits of said Town,messed and adopted on the 5th day of
August, 1940, be, and the s e is, hereby repealed*1
