ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
THE HIGHWAY 9 SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE
STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BID
As noted in the staff report, plans and specifications for this project are available for review in
the Clerk Department. The plans and specifications provide the specific details regarding the
scope of work for this project. Following is a summary of the scope of work occurring in each
jurisdiction as represented on the plans:
Saratoga:
• Modification of the intersection of Highway 9 and Big Basin Way including
modification of lane configurations, median, and traffic signals
• Widening of various segments of Highway 9
• Installation of a lighted crosswalk at Vickery Avenue
• Removal of an existing crosswalk striping at Horseshoe Drive
• Restriping and resignage for a Class II Bicycle Lane ranging from 4' to 8' in width
on both sides of Highway 9
Monte Sereno:
Installation of an asphalt dike at Rose Avenue
• Widening of various segments of Highway 9 including slight modifications of existing
storm drainage systems
• Restriping and resignage for a Class II Bicycle Lane ranging from 4' to 8' in width
on both sides of Highway 9

• Widening of the southern side of Highway 9 from Massol Avenue to the Town limits
including reconstruction of curb, gutter, and driveways
• Modification to the median at Massol Avenue to allow for widening of Highway 9 for
northbound traffic
• Installation of a lighted crosswalk at Massol Avenue
• Restriping and resignage for a Class II Bicycle Lane ranging from 4' to 5' in width on
both sides of Highway 9 from Highway 17 to the Town limits
