SUBJECT: DIRECTION REGARDING THE SALE OF 13-ACRE TOWN-OWNED PARCEL IN
VASONA PARK TO COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA FOR CONTINUED USE AS
PARKLAND
A. AUTHORIZE THE TOWN ATTORNEY TO DEVELOP AN AGREEMENT
FOR COUNCIL'S APPROVAL FOR THE SALE OF A I3-ACRE TOWN-
OWNED PARCEL IN VASONA PARK TO THE COUNTY OF SANTA
CLARA FOR $6 MILLION AND THE TRANSFER OF A.66 ACRE COUNTY-
OWNED PARCEL ADJACENT TO OAK MEADOW PARK, WITH BOTH
PROPERTIES REMAINING IN USE IN PERPETUITY AND WITH A
GUARANTEE THAT THE COUNTY WILL ALLOW BILLY JONES
RAILROAD TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE ON COUNTY PROPERTY
--OR-
B. PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE DIRECTION TO TOWN STAFF REGARDING
THE TOWN-OWNED PROPERTY

Mr. Mayor and the Town Council,
The town of Los Gatos has a wonderful opportunity in regards to the land we own in Vasona Park. I have read
many articles regarding the issues involved. It appears to me that the council and planning commission may be
moving too fast without input from the townspeople and without considering all of the options. While I
understand that this particular 13 acres may not be suitable for recreational use, we have a great need for this type
of land in Los Gatos for things like soccer and baseball. It also seems like $6 million is too low. We have an
advantage over the County. We own the land. They want the land. I urge the council to study this matter further.
Let's not miss the opportunity.

Mr. Mayor and the Town Council,
It has been brought to our attention that the town of Los Gatos plans to
approve a plan that gives land in Vasona Park to the County. I believe that
there needs to be more discussion and input from the community on this
issue. The people have begged and pleaded over the years for more land to
build sports fields for our kids. Here is our chance! Please don't push
this thru so quickly for what seems to be a very small amount of money.

Council Members:
We've been residing in Los Gatos for the past 15 years and been frequent visitos of Vasona Park. The
Town should take the money and leave the park the way it is! ! ! This unplanned money can perhaps be
utilitzed to develope active recreational facility in Oak Meadow Part..
