ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
THE LOS GATOS-SARATOGA RECREATION DEPARTMENT BUILDING
ADA RESTROOM PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ADVERTISE
THE PROJECT FOR BID
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution approving plans and specifications for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation
Department Building ADA Restroom Improvements and authorize staff to advertise the project
for bid.
BACKGROUND:
This project will remodel two restrooms in the Town owned building occupied by the Los Gatos-
Saratoga Recreation Department to bring the facility into compliance with the Americans with
Disability Act (ADA). This project is consistent with the Town's goals to improve public health
and safety and meets the eligibility requirements for this State grant program.
DISCUSSION:
The current condition and relative sizes of these restrooms restricts optimal use by people with or
without physical challenges. This project addresses (within building constraints) these
deficiencies by replacing substandard fixtures and reallocating /reorienting space.
Plans and Specifications for this project are complete and will be available for review in the
Clerk Department on the Friday before the Council meeting. If Council approves this project, it
will be advertised, a construction contract will be presented to Council for award on May 21,
2007, and construction will begin in June of 2007.

This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Each fiscal year, approximately $50,000 is available from ADA grant funding for ADA
improvements to Town facilities. This amount can include carry forward funds available from
completed projects, and for FY 2006/07 the total ADA grant funds available are $52,389. This
project's original budget was estimated at $25,000, leaving a balance of $27,389 in unused ADA
funds. Due to additional unanticipated work, additional funding of approximately $25,000 is
needed. Staff recommends transferring the balance of ADA unused grant funds ($27,389) to
meet this project's funding needs, and any remaining ADA balance will be available for ADA
improvements next fiscal year. A journal entry will be sufficient transaction to transfer the ADA
funds to this project. The following chart describes the journal entry transfer and the project's
budget:

RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
PPW JOB NO. 06-09 - FY 06-07 - CDBG FUNDED ADA IMPROVEMENTS AND
AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BIDS FOR
PROJECT 0706
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department
Building ADA Restroom Project have been prepared by the Town Engineer and duly filed with
the Clerk Administrator; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos has reviewed said plans and
specifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Town Council hereby approves
the plans and specifications for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department Building ADA
Restroom Improvements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Clerk Administrator is hereby authorized
and directed to advertise the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department Building ADA
Restroom Improvements for bids in the manner prescribed by the Town Municipal Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos held on the 16`n of April, 2007 by the following vote:
