BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Below are the names of applicants for vacancies on the Arts Commission, Personnel Board, Rent
Advisory Committee, and Transportation and Parking Commission. The Town advertised for
approximately one month for the vacant positions and received an adequate number of
applications with the exception of the Transportation and Parking Commission. Staff will re-
advertise for the vacant position until an application is received. Unless otherwise directed by
Council, Board, Commission, and Committee appointments have been scheduled for May 7,
2007.

1. Why are you interested in serving on the Rent Advisory Committee? I attended a molting to observe
the Committee in action and feel that I would like to contribute to the community
and help to strengthen the relationship between Landlords and Tenants.
2. Have you ever attended a Rent Advisory Committee meeting? _ yes . If so, please provide a summary of
your observation of the meeting. I was impressed with the meeting, the members of the
Committee, the Towne staff, the organization, and the adhereance to an agenda
and time schedule. The Committee members seemed knowledgeable and dedicated.
3. If you were appointed to the Rent Advisory Committee, what would you perceive to be your role?
As the owner of a real estate investment and property management company located
in Los Gatos and as a property owner of a 24 unit apartment building in Los Gatos,
I feel that my role would be to share knowledge gained through experiences as well
help to interpret policy and work towards resolution of Tenant/Landlord problems.
4. What changes, if any, would you like the Rent Advisory Committee to pursue to the Town's Rental Dispute
Resolution policies or procedures? I would like to see the Rental Dispute Resolution
policies conform closer to San Jose's policies, with regard to allowable
increases and expense pass through to tenants.

5. What do you believe should be the goal of the Town's Dispute Resolution Program?
To serve the community landlords and tenants with regard to issues that arise
concerning rent increases, reduction of services, discrimination, poor
management and relationship disputes.
6. Tell us about your experiences with the Town's Rent Dispute Resolution Program.
I have participated in the program as a landlord and have attended approximately
six or seven dispute resolution meetings (over the last 25 years) to resolve
tenant complaints. I am impressed with the program and satisfied with the
personal results that were achieved. The mediators strive for a compromise
and win/win result rather than a strong ruling and a win/lose result.
