RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt attached resolution authorizing the Town Manager to negotiate and execute an
amendment to an agreement with KCAT15 to cablecast Planning Commission meetings on
Community Access Channel 15 for an additional amount not to exceed $20,000.
BACKGROUND:
In November 2006, Council directed staff to pursue the cablecasting of Planning Commission
meetings on community access station, KCAT15. This direction also included the video
streaming of Planning Commission meetings for viewing on the Town's website.
DISCUSSION:
The Town currently has an agreement with KCAT15 to cablecast Town Council meetings for
annual cost of $20,000. The attached resolution would authorize the Town Manager to negotiate
and execute an amendment to the existing agreement to cablecast Planning Commission
meetings for an additional amount of $20,000. The FY 2006/07 Operating Budget includes
funding to support this additional service. There would be no additional cost to video stream the
Planning Commission meetings. The scope of services would include the live cablecast and
rebroadcast of Town Council and Planning Commission meetings and equipment maintenance
support services.

If Council adopts the attached resolution, it is anticipated that the Planning Commission
meetings would be cablecast and video streamed by early Spring 2007. This timeframe also
includes any necessary commission and staff training.
CONCLUSION:
The attached resolution authorizes the Town Manager to negotiate and execute an amendment to
an existing agreement with KCAT15 to cablecast Planning Commission meetings for an
additional annual cost of $20,000. Funding for this service is available in the FY 2006/07
Operating Budget. The meetings would also be video streamed and available for viewing on the
Town's website. If approved by Council, it is anticipated that the cablecast and streaming of the
Planning Commission meetings would occur in early Spring 2007.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is available in the FY 2006/07 Operating Budget to support the cablecast of Planning
Commission meetings. The estimated annual cost for this service is $20,000. It is anticipated
that the total annual cost to cablecast the Town Council and Planning Commission meetings is
$40,000. There is no additional cost to video stream the Planning Commission meetings.

RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS AUTHORIZING
THE TOWN MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO AN
AGREEMENT WITH KCAT15 TO CABLECAST
PLANNING COMMISSION MEETINGS FOR AN ADDITIONALAMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $20,000
WHEREAS, the Town desires to broadcast Town meetings live on the local community access
station; and
WHEREAS, the Town must obtain certain professional, technical and/or specialized services of
an independent contractor to assist the Town in the most economical manner; and
WHEREAS, Community Access Station, KCAT15 possesses the degree of specialized expertise
necessary to render cablecasting services.
RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, County of Santa Clara, State of
California, that the Town Manager is authorized to negotiate and execute an amendment to an agreement
with KCAT15 to cablecast Planning Commission meetings on KCAT15 for an additional amount not to
exceed $20,000.

California, held on the 16th of January, 2007 by the following vote:
