SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE THE TOWN MANAGER TO ACCEPT A $2,500 GRANT
FROM PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY TO THE TOWN
OF LOS GATOS TO BE USED TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY
UNITY EFFORT IN LOS GATOS.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Authorize the Town Manager to accept a $2,500 grant from Pacific Gas and Electric
Company (PG&E) to the Town of Los Gatos (Attachment 1) to be used to support the
Community -Unity effort in Los Gatos.
2. Authorize $2,500 increase in revenue and expenditures appropriations in program 8099.
BACKGROUND:
The goal of Community Unity is to continue a process that results in volunteer efforts aimed at
maintaining and improving community,. building community partnerships, and fostering civic
pride. Since its official kick-off in March 2005, local service clubs, businesses, religious
organizations, nonprofit agencies, school clubs, neighborhood associations, and interested
individuals have identified and volunteered for a wide variety of projects to benefit our
community. The Town of Los Gatos provides a forum through which volunteers partnerships
were formed and maintained.
DISCUSSION:
Community Unity does not have a funding source. In 2005, an initial $2,500 grant from PG&E
was awarded to help fund Community Unity projects, marketing, and logistics as needed.

PG&E would like to continue as a charitable contributor to Community Unity for another year
with a second grant of $2,500. The dispersal of funds will be facilitated by the Community
Services Department, and PG&E will receive recognition for services provided as a result of this
donation.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that Council authorize the Town Manager to accept the grant from PG&E.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
Community Unity is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
All revenue from this donation will be placed in a designated revenue account (8099-48624) and
the 2005/2006 budget will utilize these funds to recognize this donation.

with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations. This letter also confirms that the
Town of Los Gatos is in compliance with the USA Patriot Act, that it will not promote or engage
in violence, terrorism, bigotry, or the destruction of any state, nor will it make subgrants to any
entity that engages in these activities.
