ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATION FOR
THE CIVIC CENTER BUILDING LEAK REPAIRS AND WATERPROOFING
AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BIDS
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt resolution approving plans and specifications for the Civic CenterBuilding Leak Repairs and
Water Proofing and authorizing staff to advertise the project for bids.
BACKGROUND:
The Civic Center has developed leaks in the concrete decks surrounding the building in three
locations. These leaks cause damage to the facility and lost time and inconvenience to the staff.
Efforts to use less intrusive repair methods have been exhausted, necessitating removal and
replacement of the waterproofing system and concrete in those areas.
DISCUSSION:
The project will remove the four inch concrete surface layer in the affected areas; outside the north
entrance to the Public Library, the upper deck area east of the Towri Hall, and the.deck at the south
east corner of the Town Hall. After concrete demolition the project will remove and replace the
waterproof membrane, place additional flashing, and replace the concrete. This project also enlarges
the four deck drain surfaces adjacent to the plaza level fountain to facilitate unimpaired deck
drainage.

If approved by Council, this project will start in July, 2006 and will be completed by September,
2006.
Plans and Specifications for Project 06-22 will be made available in the Clerk Department on the
Friday before the Council meeting.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that the Town Council adopt the attached Resolution approving plans and
specifications for the Civic Center Building Leak Repairs and Water Proofing and authorize staff to
advertise the project forbids.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is a project as defined under CE
QA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). ANotice of
Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This project was approved on May 1, 2006 in the FY 2006-07 proposed Capital"Improvement
Program in the Town Infrastructure and Facilities Capital Improvement Projects, Account 0703, for.
an estimated total' ° project cost of $110,000. Funding is available effective July 1, 2'006, ' as
demonstrated in the following chart:

RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
CAPITAL PROJECT 06-22 - CIVIC CENTER BUILDING LEAK REPAIRS AND
WATER PROOFING
AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the Civic Center Building Leak Repairs and Water
Proofing have been prepared by the Town Engineer and duly filed in the Clerk Department; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos has. reviewed said plans and
specifications_
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Town Council hereby approves the
plans and specifications for the Civic Center Building Leak Repairs and Water Proofing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Clerk Administrator is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise this project for bids in the manner prescribed by the Town Municipal Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos held on the 5t' day of June, 2006 by the following vote:
