TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BIDS
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt resolution approving plans and specifications for ADA Crosswalk Improvements and
authorizing staff to advertise the project for bids.
BACKGROUND:
The Town utilizes CDBG grants each year to construct various projects that improve the accessibility
of public facilities in Town for people with disabilities. Over the past three years, projects have been
completed in the Civic Center complex and both museums in Town to enhance their accessibility
for all users.
The project for FY 04-05 will construct ADA ramps at several crosswalks locations that currently
lack such facilities.
DISCUSSION:
The FY 2004-05 CDBG funded ADA improvements will construct wheelchair ramps at Garden Hill
Drive and Lester Lane areas of the Town.
If approved by Council, ADA Improvements are expected to start in July, 2005 and be completed
by August, 2005. Plans and Specifications for Project 04-39 are complete and are available for
review in the Clerk Department.

When staff reviewed the potential locations for constructing wheelchair ramps these two areas,
Garden Hill and Lester Lane were found to be in significant need of attention. There are other areas
that will need to have wheelchair ramps installed and they will be prioritized and constructed as a
part of future proposed Capital Improvement plans.
CONCLUSION:
It is recommended that the Town Council adopt the attached Resolution approving plans and
specifications for ADA Improvements and authorize staff to advertise the project for bids. If the
Council acts as recommended, the project will be advertised and a construction contract will be
presented for Council award on June 20, 2005.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is a project as defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301c). A Notice
of Exemption will not be filed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The construction cost estimate for this project is $ 12,000. There is funding available in Proj ect 410-
0539 per the Adopted FY 2004/05 Capital Improvement Program Budget as demonstrated below:

RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
CAPITAL PROJECT 04-39 - CDBG FUNDED ADA IMPROVEMENTS AND
AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE THE PROJECT FOR BIDS
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the ADA Improvements have been prepared by the
Town Engineer and duly filed in the Clerk Department; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos has reviewed said plans and
specifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Town Council hereby approves the
plans and specifications for the ADA Improvements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Clerk Administrator is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise the ADA Improvements for bids in the manner prescribed by the Town
Municipal Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los
