Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 Council Study Session Date: 05/02/2005 Item# 5 ITIME ITEM ACTION ON ITEM 6:02 PM TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers of the Town of Hall, 110 East Main Street, at 5:45 PM, April 18, 2005, in a Study session. 6:02 PM ROLL CALL All Council Members were present. 6:03 PM OPEN VERBAL Mr. Davis COMMUNICATION • Commented regarding concerns for safety on Highway 9. • Would like to see a plan for safety on Highway 9. 6:06 PM CLOSED VERBAL COMMUNICATION 6:07 PM PRESENTATION SANTA CLARA VALLEY TRANSPORTATION AGENCY ISSUES • Carolyn Gonot, Chief Development Officer - Santa Clara Valley SANTA CLARA Transportation Authority. VALLEY Long-Term Transit Capital Investment Program. TRANSPORTATION AGENCY ISSUES Mike Aro, Deputy Director of Operations - Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. VTA update on Community Bus Service. Report made by Pamela Jacobs, Assistant Town Manager. 6:14 PM COUNCIL Presentation on Long-Term Transit Capital Investment Program. DISCUSSION • Clarification if the 9.8 billion sales tax revenue is anticipated from the 1/2 cent or the current tax revenue. LONG-TERM • Asked for update regarding the Vasona Station Corridor. TRANSIT CAPITAL . Clarification on the projected sales tax funding analysis regarding INVESTMENT Measure A and the escalation. PROGRAM. Town Council Study Session April 18, 2005 Los Gatos, California COUNCIL • Questioned base and projected increments for future sales tax DISCUSSION proposals. Continued . Clarification on a time frame that the Vasona Station Corridor would be up and running. LONG-TERM . Questioned the effects on local business regarding the 1/z cent sales TRANSIT CAPITAL tax increase. INVESTMENT . Commented that the permanent 1/z cent sales tax is high and difficult PROGRAM. to perceive. • Clarification on the zero sales tax scenario, and--wiat projects would continue. • Commented on the widespread absence of support for the 1/2 cent sales tax. • Commented that VTA could maintain there system with a zero sales tax increase, but with no capital projects in the near future. • Commented that VTA will have more answers after the work shop in August, 2005. 6:35 PM COUNCIL Presentation on VTA update for Community Bus Service. DISCUSSION • Commented that the graphics should reflect locations surrounding the Town of Los Gatos. VTA UPDATE ON . Commented on lettering and distinct graphics for the buses. COMMUNITY BUS . Commended VTA on the free shuttle service. SERVICE. . Questioned the hours of operation and would like to see more frequent service during school times. • Suggested the launch of the new shuttle service be done at the July 4th celebration in Town. 0 Suggested looking into extending the start stop times for peak usage during the high schools lunch hour, evenings and weekends. • Commented on rider ship increasing in Los Gatos. 6:54 PM STUDY SESSION ADJOURNED Submitted by: Jackie D.
