the Clerk to publish a summary no more than five days prior to adoption. BACKGROUND: On August 28, 1967, the Los Gatos Town Council adopted Ordinance number 922 establishing payment
of salaries to members ofthe Town Council ofLos Gatos pursuant to Government Code section 36516(a). The Government Code has been amended and restructured since the time of adoption and
the attached ordinance reflects those changes. The proposed amendment does not change the compensation that is or can be paid to members ofthe Town Council. Attachments: Proposed Ordinance

ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS AMENDING ARTICLE II, TOWN COUNCIL, SALARIES, SECTION 2.20.025 THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ORDAINS: SECTION I Article 2,
Section 2.20.025, is amended to read as follows: Section 2.20.025. Salaries (a) Purpose. This section is enacted pursuant to Section 36516(a) of the Government Code of the state, authorizing
the Town Council to provide by ordinance that each member of the Town Council shall receive a prescribed salary, the amount of which is based upon t he population of the Town as determined
by estimates made by the State Department of Finance. (c) Amount. Each member of the Town Council shall receive, as salary, the sum of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) up to three
hundred dollars ($300.00) per month, as prescribed in section 36516(a) of the Government Code for cities over five thousand (5,000) up to and including thirty-five thousand (35,000)
in population, which shall be payable from and after the operative date of this section at the same time and in the same manner as the salaries are paid to other officers and employees
of the Town. SECTION II In the event that any part of this ordinance is held to be invalid, the invalid part or parts shall be severed from the remaining portions which shall remain
in full force and effect. SECTION III This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos on , 2004, and adopted by the following vote as
