07 Staff Report - Temporary/Hourly Employee Compensation

FIGONE, TOWN MANAGER ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TEMPORARY/HOURLY EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004-2005 RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution approving the temporary/hourly employee compensation for fiscal year 2004-2005. DISCUSSION: Negotiations with the Town's represented employees are concluded. It is the Town's practice to amend the temporary and hourly employee's salary schedule when the increases for the represented employees are known. Salary adjustments for the temporary and hourly employees follow the established policy of setting temporary/hourly wages at 91.5% of the regular salary for Town positions (after reduction for the payment made by regular employees ofthe employee-share of the Public Employees Retirement System contribution). The salary adjustment for the temporary and hourly classifications related to the AFSCME bargaining unit, are effective January 2,2005 (3%). The salary adjustment for temporary/hourly classifications related to the TEA bargaining unit and Confidential employees are effective October 24,2004 (3%). The attached classification table reflects all the temporary and hourly classifications in the Town. The positions are filled only as needed and budgeted. ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT: Is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
