BRIDGE ADA IMPROVEMENTS ADOPT RESOLUTION TO REJECT BIDS FOR PROJECT 04-08 -ROSS CREEK BRIDGE ADA IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO REBID THE PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution
to reject bids for Project 04-08 -Ross Creek Bridge ADA hnprovements and authorize staffto rebid the project. BACKGROUND: On April 19, 2004 Council approved the plans and specifications
and authorized staff to advertise the proj ect for bids. On May 26,2004, the Town Clerk received one sealed bid for the Ross Creek Bridge ADA hnprovements from Joseph J. Albanese, Inc.
The bid summary is attached. The one bid submitted was-judged: by staff to-be-too high and not reflective of the anticipated pl'oject-co-st.--StafLhas determined that it would be prudent
to rebid this project again to receive a better cost, andthat once more contractors participate in the bidding process, the Town will receive muchmore competitive pricing. Staffwill
continue to solicit bids from various contractors forthis project. DISCUSSION: The adopted Capital hnprovement Program designates funding for the Ross Creek Bridge ADA hnprovements and
is consistent with the Town's goals to improve public safety. This project funds the construction ofADA ramps at this bridge and replacing the bridgedeck surface and railing to make
it ADA usable. If authorized by Council, this project will be re-advertised for a construction contract. Staff anticipates that the actual construction will start in July and be completed

and the project re-advertised. ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT: This project is defined under CEQA but is Categorically Exempt (Section 15301@). A Notice of Exemption will not be filed. FISCAL
IMPACT: The estimated construction cost for this project is $50,000, with a $10,boo contingency. Thisproject will be funded in project 410-0408 with CDBG funds, per the approved FY2003/04
