FIGONE, TOWN MANAGER MEETING DATE: 6/7/04 ITEM NO. 5 SUBJECT: ACCEPTA GIFTFROMTHE LOS GATOS MORNINGROTARYCLUB FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF CAT'S HILL IN THE AMOUNT OF $580.00 RECOMMENDATION: Accept a gift from the Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club for the reconstruction of Cat's Hill in the amount of $580.00. BACKGROUND: The local bicycle club of Los Gatos, which run the annual Cat's Hill race, informed theTown that some of their members wanted to contribute to the Town for the paving work that took place on Nicholson Avenue earlier this year. The bicycle race uses the section of Nicholson Avenue from Massol to Glenridgeand have inquired from the Town over the past years about paving that section ofthe road which is very steep and has a deteriorated surface. DISCUSSION: As a means to implement service to its surrounding community, Rotary Clubs look for projects that will improve the quality of life in any of several different avenues. The Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club volunteered to work with the bicycle race organizers to collect their donations and forward them to the Town. FISCAL IMPACT: The Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club is assisting the Cat's Hill Criterium Bicycle Race organizers in gifting $580.00 for this project.
