RECOMMENDATION:
Information regarding Council appointments.
DISCUSSION:
Jim Doss sent a Fax to the Council earlier today to submit his regrets that he will not be able to
attend the, interviews for Boards and Commissions tonight. He related that pressing family
commitments will not.allow him to interview for the vacancy on the Planning Commission at this
time but he hopes to apply again in the future.
Jeanne Drexel Faxed a note to Council this afternoon recommending two of the applicants for the
Planning Commission opening.

Dear council members:
It is with deep regrets that I must withdrawal my application for the opera planning
commission seat.
My mother recently had to undergo surgery and for the next 6 rnotiiths during her
rehabilitatioti, she will be requiring a great deal of my family time. After to speaking to
my family at great length this weekend, we feel. that my time availability will be too
limited to do the job the way I feel it needs to be done this year.
I have every intention of applying for the next open seat the following year. I also took
forward to getting involved in town committee that would require less of a time
commitment this year.
Thank you all for your consideration and I look forward to working along side you in the
near future.

Subject: Candidates for Planning Commission
Hi!
want to recommend two of the candidates who will be applying for a position on the planning commission.
First, Joanne Talesfore has been very good for the commission as a consensus builder and communicator. It
takes time to get a handle on the job and I would hate to see her removed and replaced with a neophyte when
she has just come into her own and is making a real contribution to the commission.
The second person I would like to recommend is Gary Ball. He is a neighbor of mine. Gary is smart and has
experience dealing with all the forces that got the Jewish community center off the ground. He has a real affection
for our town. As a commissioner, I think he would be fair, cool headed, a quick study, and articulate. Also, he has
time to devote to the commission.
