SUBJECT: Adoption of an Ordinance Amending Chapter 29 of the Los Gatos Town Code
Regulating Tree Protection
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt an Ordinance that was introduced at the Town Council meeting of April 19, 2022,
amending Chapter 29 of the Los Gatos Town Code regulating tree protection.
DISCUSSION:
At its April 19, 2022 meeting, the Town Council voted 5-0 to approve amending the Los Gatos
Town Code Chapter 29 regulating tree protection.
Staff recommends that Council adopt an Ordinance amending the Los Gatos Town Code to
regulate the removal of trees within the Town to retain as many trees as possible consistent
with the purpose of the Ordinance and the reasonable use of private property and also includes
a penalty section for violations of the Tree Protection Ordinance.
COORDINATION:
This report was coordinated with the Town Attorney’s Office and the Town Manager’s Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
As with any Ordinance change, the Town does incur costs with Municode to incorporate the
modifications to the online and hardcopy versions of the Code. These expected expenditures
are budgeted annually.
