Parking Technology
Evolving Technologies
Downtown Parking Needs
Data Can Substantiate the Needs
Opportunities for Efficiency
Evolving Technologies
electronic signs point to parking locations
want to be judicious with signage
new opportunities with technology advances – esp. in Silicon Valley
Marry these evolving technologies with the need in downtown Los Gatos
Beyond the perception – studies demonstrate the inefficiencies in hunting for parking
30% of traffic due to drivers looking for parking
wouldn’t it be great to have data behind the downtown Los Gatos parking challenge? Knowing for sure what spaces are vacant and when
Technology provides an opportunity for increased efficiency
3
Streetline Technology
Sensors installed in pavement
1 Gateway for 400 parking spaces
Cellular connection to Streetline data center
Flush Mount
Sensors are installed flush in the asphalt
These sensors detect whether or not a space is occupied.
Wireless gateway receiver takes data from the sensors
This info is sent to Streetline servers and available almost instantly to drivers
4
Graphical User Interface
Merchant App
The app user sees the info on the left on their mobile device and are guided via gps voice navigation to their choice of locations.
Business can see the info available from a PC
Streetline provides the HTML code to embed links on business websites at no cost

Analytics
ParkVille
ParkVille
Filters allow for the creation of custom reports based on area, dates, hours and weekday
Export reports for easy printing or analysis
All of the data that is collected by the sensors is available to the Town
The interface is set up so that the Town can input parking rules – for example two hour parking.
The data will tell us turnover of parking spaces, the number overstaying their time limit, vacancy rate in all of downtown or in specific areas.
The data can be invaluable in guiding future town efforts, including helping fill underutilized spaces, understanding the need for a garage, identifying use on EV or HC spaces, etc.
