Approval of Draft Minutes June 24, 2015DRAFT MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING JUNE 24, 2015 The Planning Commission of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 7:00 PM. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER Chair Burch called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Kendra Burch, Vice Chair Mary Badame, Commissioner Melanie Hanssen, Commissioner D. Michael Kane, Commissioner Tom O’Donnell, and Commissioner Joanne Talesfore Absent: Commissioner Charles Erekson. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Talesfore led the Pledge of Allegiance. The audience was invited to participate. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 10, 2015 MOTION: Motion by Commissioner O’Donnell to approve the meeting minutes of June 10, 2015. Seconded by Commissioner Kane. VOTE: Motion passed 6-0. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS None. REQUESTED CONTINUANCES None. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS Historic Preservation Committee Matters Commissioners Kane and O’Donnell - The 6/24/15 HPC meeting considered six matters: - 78 West Main Street - 136 Tate Avenue - 194 Villa Avenue - 215 Alexander Avenue - 145 Glenridge Avenue - Town Demolition Penalties VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS (AUDIENCE) None. Page 2 of 3 Planning Commission Minutes June 24, 2015 NEW PUBLIC HEARINGS 1. 5 Augusta Court Architecture and Site Application S-14-125 APN 529-11-006 Property Owner: Donald P. and Rose M. Arnaudo Applicant: Mr. and Mrs. Stefan Arnaudo Project Planner: Jocelyn Puga Requesting approval to construct a new second story addition to an existing single-family residence with reduced setbacks, and to exceed the maximum allowable floor area on property zoned R-M:5-12. Chair Burch opened the public hearing. Jocelyn Puga, Assistant Planner, presented the staff report. Commission members asked questions of staff. Stefan Arnaudo - Commented that the subject house and the house next door have been in his family since the early 1950s. They want to maintain the porch, roofline, and the front façade and just go upwards. They are going for a larger footprint because they need room for children, guests, and an office. Commission members asked questions of Mr. Arnaudo, and Cliff Petersen, the architect. Mike Haun - Commented that he is a neighbor of the Arnaudos and completely approves of the proposed plans. Commission members asked questions of Mr. Haun. Stefan Arnaudo - Commented it was interesting to go through the process and thanked the Commissioner s for their time and feedback. Commission members asked questions of Mr. Arnaudo. Chair Burch closed the public input portion of the hearing and returned to the Commission for deliberation. Commission members discussed the matter. Commission members asked questions of staff. MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Talesfore to continue the public hearing for 5 Augusta Court to the m eeting of August 12, 2015, with direction to:  Address the Consulting Architect’s comments  Comply with FAR requirements  Meet Residential Design Guidelines, including blending in with single story immediate neighborhood Seconded by Commissioner Badame. Chair Burch asked questions of Mr. Arnaudo. Chair Burch closed the public input portion of the hearing. VOTE: Motion passed 6-0 The public hearing was closed. NEW OTHER BUSINESS 2. Report from Community Development Director, Laurel Prevetti  Town Council met June 6, 2015 and considered the appeal of the Union Avenue development. The Council remanded it back to the Planning Commission with direction. Town Council also met on June 17, 2015 and adopted the North 40 Specific Plan with modifications. The North 40 Ordinance will return to the Council for a required second reading on August 4, 2015. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 7:58 pm.
