SUBJECT: Adopt a Resolution Certifying the November 3, 2020 Los Gatos General
Municipal Election and Declaring the Election Results for Measure A, Measure
B, Two Full Term Council Member Seats, and One Short Term Council
Member Seat
RECOMMENDATION:
Pursuant to California Elections Code, the Town Council shall adopt a resolution declaring the
results of the November 3, 2020 Los Gatos General Municipal Election for Measure A, Measure
B, two full term Council Member seats, and one short term Council Member seat.
BACKGROUND:
A General Election was held in the Town of Los Gatos on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 for the
purpose of electing two (2) full term Council Member seats and one (1) short term Council
Member seat, and considering Measure A to establish a Finance Commission and Measure B to
institute term limits for Council Members.
At the direction of the Town Clerk, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters canvassed the
returns of the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election pursuant to Town Council
Resolution No. 2020-025. The Registrar of Voters (ROV) has provided a Certification to the
Results and Canvass of the Election Returns, pursuant to California Elections Code Section
10262.
Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10263, the Town Council shall adopt a resolution
declaring the results of the election.

BACKGROUND (continued):
The proposed resolution declares Mary Badame elected to Office of Member of the Los Gatos
Town Council for the short term ending December 13, 2022, and Matthew Hudes and Maria
Ristow elected to the Office of Member of the Los Gatos Town Council for the full terms ending
December 13, 2024.
Additionally, the proposed resolution deems Ordinance No. 2314 “ORDINANCE OF THE PEOPLE
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ADOPTING THE PROVISIONS OF AN INITIATIVE MEASURE ADDING
ARTICLE V TO CHAPTER 2 AND AMENDING SECTION 25.60.140 OF THE TOWN CODE
ESTABLISHING A TOWN FINANCE COMMISSION;” (Measure A), and Ordinance No. 2315 “AN
ORDINANCE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS ADOPTING THE PROVISIONS OF AN
INITIATIVE MEASURE ADDING SECTION 2.20.040 OF THE TOWN CODE ESTABLISHING TOWN
COUNCIL TERM LIMITS” (Measure B) adopted and ratified.
The Town is expecting to receive the certification of the November 3, 2020 General Municipal
Election from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters by close of business on December 3,
2020. The certification information includes the election results, the total number of votes for
three (3) Council Member seats, the total number of votes for Measure A, the total number of
votes for Measure B, and the Statement of Votes Cast. As soon as the certification is received
by the Town, it will be forwarded to the Town Council in either an Addendum or a Desk Item.
COORDINATION:
The preparation of this report was coordinated with the Town Manager and Town Attorney.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost to the Town for holding a consolidated election will be available in January
2021. Funds have been allocated in the FY 2020/21 Adopted Budget to cover these expenses.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:
This is not a project defined under CEQA, and no further action is required.
