Cheers...Vinod RE: Safety Hazard Created by 2020 Class IV Bikeway Project (Bikeway) – Los Gatos, CA The scope of this document is limited to the section in front 15005 Winchester Blvd and 15011 Winchester Blvd in the city of Monte Sereno, CA 95030. These are 2 homes with driveways on Winchester in the block between La Rinconada Dr and Eaton Ln. The purpose of this document is to highlight the safety hazards created due to the construction of 2020 Class IV Bikeway Project (Bikeway) and a remedy proposal. The bikeway construction in this section impacts life safety for 4 groups of people: (i) Bicyclists, (ii) Pedestrians, (iii) Residents and pets of these 2 homes, and (iv) Visitors to these 2 homes that include USPS mail person, UPS/Fedex trucks, Gardeners, Pool maintenance, Home Cleaners, other Delivery and other Maintenance personnel, friends and family The remedy proposal is to remove all physical barriers in front of the driveways between these 2 homes and 2 car lengths to the left and 2 car lengths to the right beyond these homes, so that cars don’t have to enter and exit Winchester at a 90-degree angle which will cause a sudden stop to the flow of bikers and traffic, and failing to suddenly stop will cause life risk of various people. Additionally, we would like no changes to our driveways and off-street parking we have for our visitors. Note, since the “bikeway for exclusive use by bicycles”, the pedestrians, residents, and pets will no longer be able to use a path that is frequently use to access the surrounding neighborhoods, including bus stops. Finally, the visitors no longer have the same place to park and access our residences as the current off-street parking in front of our residences are impeded by the physical barriers. For these reasons, we want the remedy proposal in bold put into place. The following pictures and diagrams highlight the dangers of 90-degree turns and also the safety concerns for visitors in accessing these homes. Maps of reference properties: Remedy Proposal is change the current 35% implemented design plan to remove all physical barriers in front of the driveways between these 2 homes and 2 car lengths to the left and 2 car lengths to the right beyond these homes and no changes to our off street parking and driveways. More pictures to show the properties and the safety hazards are below: The remedy proposal removes all physical barriers in front of the driveways of 15005 and 15011 Winchester Blvd and 2 car lengths to the left and 2 car lengths to the right beyond these homes. This prevents accidents and saves lives. This is safer for all above referenced 4 groups of people, including bicyclists whose safety is the goal of the bikeway project.
