Subject: Verbal Communications - Non Agenda Item
Thank you for sharing your time.
On December 16, 2019, a traffic incident occurred on the 900 block of Blossom Hill Rd. I own the
property at 937 Blossom Hill Rd, almost directly in front of where the incident occurred. As a
homeowner, I would like to review the police report associated with this incident so that I can
better understand the cause and personally assess the ongoing likelihood of danger in the area.
I submitted a Public Records Request on April 28th in order to get a copy of this police report, and
that same day, I received notice that this request had been forwarded to the police department.
My compliments to the Town Clerk for that quick response.
Since then, I have received no status on this request. This is the first time that I have ever
submitted a public records request, so the process is completely new to me. Is this kind of delay
typical? I realize that this is a police matter and that may add some complexity, but I am hard-
pressed to understand why a traffic incident wouldn't be completely documented and available
for review five months after the fact. And going a full month with no response for a records
request seems a little excessive to me, but perhaps this is standard operating procedure? If it is, it
feels like there is room for improvement here, and I hope that our public agencies are aware that
some people find such a delayed response to be frustrating.
Thank you for letting me share. I appreciate any additional comment or insight that the Town
Council may wish to add to this topic, as I hope that you advocate for clear, timely
communication between public agencies and the public.
Regards,
Peter Dominick

Subject: Follow-up to previous Verbal Communication - Non Agenda Item
To whom it may concern,
Earlier today at 12:16 pm PST, I submitted an email comment for Verbal Communications at the
June 2 Los Gatos Town Council meeting. This message pertained to the lack of response that I
have experienced in a request for records from the LGPD.
Not three hours after I submitted my verbal communication, I received a message from the LGPD
with a response to my request. I am now in the odd position of having submitted a complaint
about something which has since been resolved.
If possible, I would like to strike my verbal communication from this evenings meeting, as the
complaint has been resolved and I don't wish to distract the council with it. If that is not possible
because the email is already considered part of the meeting material, I will follow up with a
correction during a future Town Council meeting.
Thank you,
Peter Dominick
