Item 3 - Exhibit 17 - Public Comments received between 1101 am, March 22, 2019 and 1100 am, March 27, 2019From: Hui Li <huililiu2010@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 27, 2019 10:06 AM To: Planning <Planning@losgatosca.gov> Cc: Husband <liu_shigong@yahoo.com> Subject: Concerns for the project on 258 Union Ave. Dear members of the Planning Commission and Town Council members, We are writing to express our concerns for the house development project at 258 Union Avenue. There was another development project at the same location 3 years ago, and the proposal was denied by the Commission and Town Council. For this new proposal, we still have following concerns: 1. Los Gatos is still a beautiful and peaceful town like Saratoga, and Los Altos Hill; such dense residential building is less pleasant for the neighborhood and community. 2. There are still privacy concerns, as two of the new buildings' master room windows are overlooking our first-floor master room. Not only to the room, but overlooking to the bed directly. 3. We ever measured the sunshine when the p oles were setup 3 years ago. More than 50 minutes sunshine would have been blocked in the afternoon even in January. Summer time would have been much longer. Comparing to the pictures 3 years ago, the new poles will block even more although it is claimed that the new building would be lower than what was proposed 3 years ago. 4. There are still drainage problems as the neiborhood backyard's ground level is lower than the land at 258 Union Avenue. Moreover, as we are more familiar with our neighborhood than 3 years ago, we can see more safety concerns in terms of our neighborhood and community. My kids are now Leigh high students, and I have so many chances to drive them and their friends to and from the Safeway plaza, where the plaza's entrance/exit exactly faces the proposed new houses. If you live in this area, you know that Union Ave at that part is narrow and busy, especially from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, when there are many middle and high schoolers in that area, including pedestrians, bikers, scooters, an d teen drivers, as well as parents coming back from work, going shopping, and picking up and dropping off kids. Even now, that part is already a headache of traffic and is not quite safe when entering or exiting the Safeway plaza. We did a random search on Google and easily found that many car accidents already reported at this area. EXHIBIT 17 With the new housing development, with 9 new house units plus office building, more cars and more traffic from a new direction, plus the garbage bins that will be put along the already very narrow road, more safety concerns arise. These days, when we drive on the road, we see more and more wreaths putting along the roads in memorial of victims of various car accidents. This should remind us that safety is an important issue in our community. Since all the reasons of previous denial are still there and become stronger, please do not allow this planned development to be built. Thank you very much for your time and considerations. Sincerely, Shiong Liu Hui Li 259 Howes Ct, Los Gatos, CA 95032
