Item 3 - Exhibit 06 - Consulting Architect's ReportMay 17, 2018 Mr. Sean Mullin Community Development Department Town of Los Gatos 110 E. Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95031 RE: 17500 Farley Road Dear Sean: I reviewed the drawings and evaluated the site context. My comments and recommendations are as follows: NEIGHBORHOOD CONTEXT The site is located along a street with mostly light industrial uses plus two residences. Photographs of the site and sur- rounding context are shown on the following page. I have no recom- mendations for changes to the two proposed structures. However, there are some concerns regarding the site and landscaping plan. 1. The placement of a proposed fence near the front sidewalk line is not consistent with the streetscape which has evolved along both sides of Farley Road. Other properties have well developed landscaping and open feeling street frontages appropriate to the block’s transition between the North Santa Cruz Avenue commercial uses and the ad- jacent residential neighborhood to the west - see context photos on page 2. This fence placement would be a major departure from that streetscape treatment. 2. The proposed two entry drives would break up the streetscape, and are not the norm for development along this street which typically emphasizes substantial street front landscaping. 17500 Farley Road Design Review Comments May 17, 2018 Page 4 RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Pull the front fence back behind the face of the main structure. 2. Limit project driveway entries to one unless an exceptional need can be demonstrated for two driveways. 3. Provide enhanced streetscape landscaping in the front setback area. One approach to implementing these recommendations is shown below. Sean, please let me know if you have any questions, or if there are other issues that I did not address. Sincerely, CANNON DESIGN GROUP Larry L. Cannon
