The Planning Commission of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on
Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M.

Present: Chair Tom O'Donnell, Vice Chair D. Michael Kane, Commissioner Mary Badame,
Commissioner Kendra Burch, Commissioner Melanie Hanssen, Commissioner Matthew Hudes,
and Commissioner Kathryn Janoff
Absent: None

Vice Chair Kane led the Pledge of Allegiance. The audience was invited to participate.

Requesting approval for a General Plan Amendment from land use designation Office
Professional to Medium Density Residential and a Zone Change from O:LHP (Office with
a Landmark and Historic Preservation Overlay Zone) to R1-D:LHP (Single-Family
Residential Downtown with a Landmark and Historic Preservation Overlay Zone).
Sean Mullin, Associate Planner, presented the staff report.
Opened Public Comment.
Bess Wiersema
- They plan to return the subject home to residential while retaining its historic character,
and to return it to Los Gatos’ housing stock. They asked to retain the current lease
agreement that runs through December 2018. The five-stall parking lot would be removed
and a two-car garage built. The home would remain a single story residence, and the ADA
compliant ramps would be removed.

Commissioners discussed the matter.
MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Badame to recommend approval of a General
Plan Amendment and Zone Change for 202 University Avenue to Town
Council. Seconded by Commissioner Burch.
Commissioners discussed the matter.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

3. Report from the Director of Community Development
Joel Paulson, Director of Community Development
• The deadline for applications for committees and commissions is 10/27/2017. Town
Council held a study session on 10/24/2017 regarding traffic. Town Council met
10/17/2017; adopted the cellar recommendation forwarded from the Planning
Commission; approved a Winchester office building application with additional
conditions.
