Thank you for all of the work you do in our community, it is greatly appreciated! I am a local business owner in town and was given your information by Monica Renn. I am contacting you directly regarding the Council Meeting on 7 /26, specifically in regards to Urban Remedy. I wanted to reach out to you prior to the Council meeting to share my concerns in regards to another formula retail company moving into our small/local community. I have been operating my business here in Los Gatos for the last two years and my success has been driven directly because of the other local businesses supporting me and our community being very "local-centric", including town officials. Because our community has been focused on supporting it's home grown businesses, we have thrived . With Pressed Juicery (very large corporate chain) already moving in downtown and now the potential of an additional formula retailer, I am concerned that the general message and community support of local business will be overlooked and pushed in a different direction. Some of our biggest local supporters and advocates include: Teri Hope (Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company), Kevin Youkilis (Loma Brewing Co.), Mike Williams (Southern Kitchen), Macey Kalin (The Dailey Method LG), Steve Angelo (Purple Onion Cafe), and Alex Hult (Hults Restaurant), to name a few. I have statements from a few of the contacts listed above and will send them in a follow up email or they will email you directly. We all share the same concern in striving to keep our community as lo cally focused as possible. Each of us have built our companies on this platform and are continually grateful for the small town support we continue to receive. I hope you take this email and other business owners' comments into consideration as you go into the council meeting this Wednesday. Please let me know if you have any questions for me. I currently Jive here with my husband and 3 children. As you probably know, this town has changed tremendously in the last 10+ years ... there have been some amazing additions and developments that truly contribute to the charm of our community, but there have also been some that negatively impact our town. The lure of Los Gatos is a small hometown feel that it exudes. With the additions of corporate businesses coming into town, it takes away from what I feel my town stands for ... not to mention the pressure it puts on the already strained traffic & parking situations. I understand Urban Remedy is yet another corporate company attempting to become a part of Los Gatos. I would love to see more organic growth in our town and more support towards our truly LOCAL businesses. Sincerely, Macey Kalin RECEIVED JUL 262017 TOWN OF LOS GATOS PLANNING DIVISION
