ROLL CALL Present: Chair D. Michael Kane, Vice Chair Matthew Hudes, Commissioner Mary Badame, Commissioner Melanie Hanssen, Commissioner Kathryn Janoff, and Commissioner Tom O’Donnell Absent: Commissioner Kendra Burch PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Hanssen led the Pledge of Allegiance. The audience was invited to participate. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS/COMMISSION MATTERS Historic Preservation Committee Vice Chair Hudes - The HPC met 5/23/18 and considered two items: o 11 Peralta Avenue o 16 Pennsylvania Avenue VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS None. VOTE: Motion passed 6-0. PUBLIC HEARINGS 3. 32 N. Santa Cruz Avenue Conditional Use Permit Application U-18-005 APN 529-03-055 Property Owner: Shari Flick, Inc. Applicant: Lululemon Athletica Project Planner: Ryan Safty Requesting approval for a formula retail business (Lululemon Athletica) on property zoned C-2:LHP. Ryan Safty, Associate Planner, presented the staff report. Opened Public Comment. Lindsay Leaver - She is the regional manager for Lululemon Northern California. Their design intent is to make each store fit its community, but they also run their stores like that. They hire locally and pay well, and would have between 15-25 employees. Their data shows a lot of Los Gatos residents shop at Lululemon, but they are doing it online or at Lululemon stores in other communities. Janelle Langevin - She is the store designer for the northwest region of the USA for Lululemon. Their guiding vision is to cultivate highly profitable retail environments curated for the local community, and the elements of the design hone into what the community would want or need. Their research shows that Los Gatos is a very yoga- and cross-fit-centric community. They took design inspirations from Los Gatos’s hillsides, wine country culture, upscale vibe, and small town charm and friendliness. Closed Public Comment. MOTION: Motion by Commissioner Badame to approve a Conditional Use Permit for 32 North Santa Cruz Avenue. Seconded by Commissioner Hanssen. Commissioners discussed the matter. VOTE: Motion passed 6-0. OTHER BUSINESS 4. Report from the Director of Community Development Joel Paulson, Director of Community Development • Town Council met 5/15/18; considered and adopted the operating budget and the capital improvement program budget, which will go to the June 5th meeting for final approval. • Town Council met 5/1/18; granted the Alberto Way appeal and approved a 69,000 square foot building on the Alberto Way site; and denied the Twin Oaks project on the grounds that it was not consistent with the General Plan. Commissioners discussed the matter.
