door to his restaurant in Los Gatos. I grew up in Saratoga with Nick but spend and have spent a majority of my time in

My husband and I are big supporters of Nick's and have followed him from his small restaurant on E Main 8 years or so

successful entrepreneur he is today. Nick's On Main and Nick's Next Door have been strong attractions over the years

I am writing in support of Nick's Raw Bar. I have strongly felt that a cigar lounge had no place where families
walk. There was no way to get away from the smell, which Nick dealt with amiably all along.
Nick's is a gem in downtown LG. We were original investors when it was Tapestry. The quality now is
significantly better. Also, Nick is generous with lots of fund raisers in town.
This would be a logical extension of the space, and we are strongly in support.

I am a 30+ year resident of Los Gatos and appreciate how weU the Town is run. I believe there is a place
for a restaurant like Nick's Raw Bar. I have known Nick Difu for 20+ years and he is the kind of business
Los Gatos wants and should support. Nick not only runs a quality restaurant, but is extremely supportive
of so many Los Gatos organizations, including LGEF, New MIiiennium Foundation, Art Docents of Los Gatos
and many others.
A restaurant like Nick's Raw Bar is something Los Gatos does not currently have and will bring more
people into Los Gatos.
I hope you will lift the Conditional Use permit at the Cigar Lounge site and allow the establishment of
another quality Los Gatos destination restaurant.

We are 25 year Los Gatos residents writing to express our support for a Change of Use Permit to replace the Cigar Club
with Nick's Raw Bar at 21 College Avenue, Los Gatos (in the Soda Works Plaza). Nick's Raw Bar would be a welcome
addition to the town's restaurant choices as its menu offering of light, healthy, raw food is unlike anything already
offered in town. Additionally, this would bring an up-to-date restaurant trend to town, keeping the town current and
attractive to residents and visitors. We are impressed by the personable, well-run business that Nick's Next Door is and
appreciate not only the business that Nick's reputation draws into Los Gatos, but all of the support that Nick Difu

As a Monte Sereno citizen since 1985 my husband and I have seen restaurants come and go. Our favorite restaurant in
town has been Nicks Next Door since it opened. Not only do we receive the best food and service, Nicks represents the
best of Los Gatos.
I love seeing my neighbors there and catching up on Nick. He not only is a fabulous chef and restaurantur but, a true
humanitarian. As a volunteer at The Butter Paddle I have seen first hand how Nick opens his door for our charity
events. To expand his restaurant would be a great advantage to the city and people of Los Gatos.

I understand Nick's Next Door is looking to change the conditional use for the smoke shop next door to Nick's. As you
may be aware Nick's is one ofthe biggest assets for downtown Los Gatos, Nick's is a place we go to to see Nick enjoy his
food and see old friends. By changing the conditional use to allow Nick to operate a separate entity that would
compliment his current entity would enhance this property to what it should be ... a place to come and enjoy this
gorgeous property.
I hope you consider this conditional use change for the residents and non residents that would love to experience this
type of improvement to this property.

As a 35 year resident of Los Gatos and a member of the EMQ Auxiliary that operates The Butter Paddle store
in Los Gatos, I can speak to the importance of high quality restaurants with community oriented ownership in
a thriving town like Los Gatos.
Nick's Next Door is not only a culinary focal point and a popular gathering spot in town, it is the kind of
business that unites a community and gives back in community service. In the last few years, Nick has opened
the restaurant as a fundraiser for at-risk children who are served by the EMQ Auxiliary and Uplift Family
Services. Nick has even allowed some of these kids to participate in the evening's events to encourage young
dreams and aspirations. Nick's donation of food and services has netted thousands of dollars in support of
programs that support local children and families in crisis.
I strongly support the expansion of Nick's Next Door to open Nick's Raw Bar with a full liquor license in the
cigar shop location. The growth of this local gem is a 11 win-win 11 for the restaurant AND the community.

As an immediate neighbor of Nick's Next Door, I'm writing to urge you to approve Nick's Raw Bar (Application 5-17-047).
I live directly across College Avenue from Nick's Next Door and the current Los Gatos Cigar Club (which -with your
approval -will instead become Nick's Raw Bar).
I directly face both establishments.
Nick's Next Door is an outstanding restaurant and an outstanding neighbor.
Nick Difu is constantly on top of every detail, making sure his customers receive outstanding food and service.
The mix of customers Nick's Next Door attracts is exactly what downtown Los Gatos -and especially E. Main Street -
needs, and Nick's Raw Bar will be an outstanding addition.
The Los Gatos Cigar Club often hosts events that include members sitting on the patio (almost directly below me) and
frequently watching (and reacting to) sporting events on TV. Yet even with much outdoor activity, the sound and
activity level is very appropriate (more than acceptable for the mixed use neighborhood they're located it), and would
continue to be with Nick's Raw Bar (because it already is with Nick's Next Door).
Importantly, Nick Difu builds relationships. Most of his staff at Nick's Next Door has been with him for many years, and
together they are well known and much loved by customers and neighbors. In approving the application for Nick's Raw
Bar, Los Gatos is showing confidence in a current Los Gatos business owner who has proven over many years he
deserves it and will continue to do Los Gatos proud.
I can't think of a better use of 21 College Avenue than Nick's Raw Bar -and urge your approval!

I have been a huge fan of Nick's for many many years. He is a great business owner and an icon in the Los Gatos
restaurant scene. The addition of a new restaurant by him would be a great thing! I am a small business owner in
Saratoga and customers ask all the time where to eat, depending upon what kind of food they are looking for many
times I send them to Nick's. The addition of a Raw Bar is something that there is not anything like that in the area and I

Sean, I want to drop a line in support of the proposed raw bar adjacent to Nick's Next Door. As is well documented,
Downtown is hemorrhaging strong tenants which are sorely needed to get us back to the same dynamics of the 90's
with a strong late night dining scene.
Nick has been a great supporter of downtown, has an enormous following from across the country and this expansion of
his offerings will only bring increased traffic to the downtown that can be shared amongst all of the other merchants.
The histrionics that were played out during the expansion of Guardino's and the opening of the Lexington House give
pause to any other operator considering Downtown which is no good for anyone.
