ROLL CALL Present: Mayor Marico Sayoc, Vice Mayor Rob Rennie, Council Member Marcia Jensen, Council Member Steve Leonardis, Council Member Barbara Spector. Absent: None PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Sayoc led the Pledge of Allegiance. The audience was invited to participate. VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS Angelia Doerner - Commented on the noticing of the meeting and inquired why special meeting dates aren’t posted on the website as soon as they are known . STUDY SESSION • Discuss potential cut-through traffic mitigation measures and provide direction to staff. Matt Morley, Director of Parks and Public Works, presented the staff report. Opened public comment. Marshall Anstandig, City of Monte Sereno Mayor - Commented that the two jurisdictions have worked well together to solve traffic problems , pledged to continue working with the Town, and commented on the traffic on Hwy 9 and Massol. Sur Farwell - Commented on the priority of adding the widening of Hwy 17 back into the Measure B projects, enacting a traffic circle at Wood Road, making N. Santa Cruz Avenue one way, widening the sidewalks on N. Santa Cruz Avenue to increase outdoor dining opportunities, and creating a pedestrian friendly downtown. Santa Cruz Avenue; and requested the Town to make pedestrian friendly areas on N. Santa Cruz Avenue, consider keeping the street closure longer after the holiday parade, and not close the south Hwy 17 onramp again. Jennifer Crawl - Commented in support of the movable barriers on Hwy 17, the one way street trial, redevelopment of the downtown area; and suggested doing a holiday stroll in December when the street is closed from Saturday morning through Sunday evening. Catherine Somers, Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Executive Director - Commented on the survey of the southbound Hwy 17 onramp closure that the Chamber conducted of the downtown businesses. Randi Chen, Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce - Commented on the survey of the southbound Hwy 17 onramp closure that the Chamber conducted of the downtown businesses. Pat Wolfram - Commented on the possibility of widening Old Santa Cruz Hwy and implementing a beach train or buses; expressed support of the roundabout, the one way street trial, and a parking garage; and inquired if a system could be put in place so residents in 95033 can get through the closure. Angelia Doerner - Commented on the street construction that was done in 2017, evacuation routes for the Almond Grove residents, and the merging onto Hwy 17. Laurie DeWitt - Commented on the access for the mountain residents to Hwy 17 and requested a sticker system be put in place for use during the closure. Susan Burnett - Commented in support of the closure, especially in the summer months. Alex Hult - Commented in support of revitalizing the downtown, raising the sales tax to facilitate making changes to affect traffic impacts, completing the parking garage, and building the roundabout. Maria Ristow - Commented on the benefits of the roundabout. Ellen Manzo - Suggested using golf carts as a way to shuttle residents in and out of the downtown area. Closed public comment.
