SUBJECT: SUPPORT THE 2016 MEASURE B PROJECT FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT
HIGHWAY 9 AND HIGHWAY 17 INCLUDING DESIGN OPTIONS FOR
EFFICIENCIES ON HIGHWAY 17 AND FOR ADDITIONAL TRAVEL LANES ON
HIGHWAY 17 AND DIRECT STAFF TO PROCESS A GENERAL PLAN 2020
AMENDMENT ALLOWING FOR THE PROJECT
REMARKS:
After distribution of the staff report, a Councilmember requested documentation depicting the
existing highway 17 right of way and diagrams depicting potential auxiliary lanes and
realignment of existing lanes as contained in the staff report. The attachments to this
addendum depict high level conceptual ideas. Attachment 1 demonstrates the efficiency
concept utilizing auxiliary lanes to provide smoother transitions at on and off ramps.
Attachment 2 shows more significant work that utilizes extra travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, and a
new interchange at Highway 9. Both exhibits demonstrate preliminarily that the work can be
completed within the existing right-of-way.
