MINUTES OF THE TOWN COUNCIL RETREAT
MARCH 7, 2009
The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Special Meeting on
Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 8:30 A.M. to facilitate a Town Council Retreat.
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER

Present: Mayor Mike Wasserman, Vice Mayor Diane McNutt, Council Member
Joe Pirzynski, Council Member Steve Rice, and Council Member Barbara
Spector.
Absent: None.
VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS (Three-minute time limit)
Mr. Davis
Commented on people recognizing him in the community.
Commented on being impressed with the Town’s fiscal situation.
Commented that funding for Neighborhood Improvement Fund purposes
is already available through the Redevelopment Agency.
DISCUSSION TOPICS
Fiscal Year 2009-2014 - Trends and Five-Year Forecast
Town Manager, Greg Larson
Presented revenue trend information, including sales tax, property tax,
transient occupancy tax, business license fees, charges for services and
license and permit fees.
Presented Town staffing level history from FY 2001/02 to the present.
Presented the five-year forecast showing deficits beginning in FY 2009/10
that will need to be addressed through budget adjustments.
COUNCIL DISCUSSION
Requested clarification and commented on the revenue trends, staffing
level history, and five-year forecast.

2009/2010 Budget Balancing Strategies
Town Manager, Greg Larson
Discussed potential townwide cost savings and revenue enhancement
strategies to pursue for the development of the FY 2009/10 budget.
Discussed potential specific service reduction and revenue enhancement
proposals to balance the FY 2009/10 budget.
COUNCIL DISCUSSION
Requested clarification and commented on the townwide strategies and
specific service proposals.
