Main Street Los Gatos, CA 95030 TIME ITEM ACTION ON ITEM 5:15 PM TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers of the Town of Hall, 110 East Main Street, at 5:15 PM, June 05, 2006, in a Special Meeting. 5:15 PM ROLL CALL Present: Steve Glickman, Joe Pirzynski, Barbara Spector, Mike Wasserman, and Mayor/Chairman Diane McNutt. Absent: None 5:16 PM BOARDS AND COMMISSION INTERVIEWS ARTS COMMISSION INTERVIEW – ONE VACANCY Applicant: Penelope O’Neil Interviews were held for the vacant position on the Arts Commission. Appointments will be made at the June 19, 2006 Town Council Meeting. 5:30 PM OPEN/CLOSE VERBAL COMMUNICATION 5:30 PM FEEDBACK ON SITE OPTIONS FOR CIVIC CENTER/LIBRARY MASTER PLAN Feedback on site options for Civic Center/Library Master Plan. Ms. Jacobs invited the community to attend a meeting to be held on June 8, 2006, at 7:00 PM, in the Town Council Chambers, to provide feedback regarding the site options for the Civic Center/Library Master Plan. Staff report made by Pamela Jacobs. 5:35 PM PRESENTATION Pamela Anderson-Brule Architects provided background, process, and site options for the Civic Center Master Plan. COUNCIL DISCUSSION FEEDBACK ON Commented that option B doesn’t invite the public into the center with the two added buildings at the front of the site. Questioned the need for 500 parking spaces to serve the Civic Center. Commented that sufficient parking should be provided. Would like to see maximum open space up front. Commented that moving Fiesta Way is a good idea. Town Council June 5, 2006 Study Session Los Gatos, California 3/25/2019 1:15 PM Page 2 of 2 E:\uploadedFiles\10965f8f7a2c99cff0132a4324427a3a-b1e02e95d7f2364\p1d6r10ih81hcage625fk3o1018i.doc SITE OPTIONS FOR CIVIC CENTER/LIBRARY MASTER PLAN Continued Would not want to lose multiple access from Villa Avenue. Commented on fiscal concerns, and would like to see cost estimates when the project is brought back to Council. Questioned if cost to relocate the Police Department has been factored in to the cost estimates. Commented on the use of way finding signs and a accessible customer services center. Commented on including the Pageant Grounds in the site options. Would like to see the Police Department as part of a Civic Center Plan. May need to consider police facilities off-site. Commented on support for replacing the Neighborhood Center. Suggested a parking study to further determine the amount of spaces currently needed for the Civic Center use. PUBLIC COMMENT Mr. Miller Would like to see a customer service department as a “one stop shop.” Ms. Baum Reported on the educational opportunity during charette process which took place in May, 2006. Commented that using surface space for the current parking lot at the civic center is uninviting. Mr. Davis Commented on the lack of lighting in the Civic Center parking lot. Would like to see enough parking to serve the summer activities at the Civic Center.
