M 02-10-03 Special-Downtown Business Recognition-Johnnys Northside GrillTOWN OF LOS GATOS CALIFORNIA TOWN COUNCIL/SPECIAL MEETING Northside Business Recognition Reception February 10, 2003 TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos met at Johnny’s Northside Grill, 532 N. Santa Cruz Avenue, at 4:55 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2003, in a special meeting. THOSE PRESENT: Council:Steve Glickman, Diane McNutt, Joe Pirzynski, Mike Wasserman and Mayor/Chairman Sandy Decker. Staff:Town Manager Debra Figone, Redevelopment Manager Marty Woodworth, Community Development Director Bud Lortz, Parks & Public Works Director John Curtis, Police Captain Alana Forrest, Town Clerk Marian Cosgrove, Deputy Clerk MarLyn Rasmussen. Business:South Bay Towing Los Gatos eXperience, Johnny’s Northside Grill Sun Restoration Los Gatos Alarm Shafer’s Income Tax & Real Estate Travel Advisors of Los Gatos Green Valley Disposal University Ave. Style Barber Shop Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Edna Ray’s Chinese Restaurant Video Store Career and Communication Consultant VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS Ray Davis spoke of the traffic increases due to intensification of use and asked that new land uses not be generated. Sherri Dudley, City Manager in an Exchange Program from Australia, was introduced by Town Manager Debra Figone. Ms Dudley expressed her pleasure at having the opportunity to visit Los Gatos and attend this community meeting. TC:D13:SP021003 Town Council Minutes February 10, 2003 Redevelopment Agency Los Gatos, California OPENING REMARKS BY THE MAYOR Mayor Decker opened the meeting by speaking of the history of Northside in the development of Los Gatos over a hundred years ago. She noted the influence of the train passing through this section of Town and the businesses that developed here over time. She spoke of Jim Cooper starting his business in 1955 and all the other people who have left their mark in this location. She closed by thanking all the businesspeople who support the activities in the Northside business community both past and present. Marty Woodworth encouraged the attending businessmen to discuss the issues in this business community with one another and with Town staff. He also requested that the surveys that had been sent out be returned to the Town. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Decker adjourned the meeting at 5:30 p.m. and asked that everyone remain and hold one on one discussions with Council, staff and each other. ATTEST Marian V.
