TOWN COUNCIL/PARKING AUTHORITY
The Town Council/Parking Authority of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers of the
Town Hall, 110 East Main Street, at 6:07 P.M., Monday, September 8, 1997, in study session.
ATTENDANCE
Present:Mayor Joanne Benjamin; Councilmembers: Randy Attaway, Steve Blanton,
Jan Hutchins, Linda Lubeck; Town Manager David Knapp; Town Staff:
Lee Bowman, Scott Baker, Orry Korb; Parking Commissioners: Sue Farwell,
Ed Stahl, Kurt Lemons, Rex Morton, Martha Toole.
DISCUSSIONS
The Town Council/Parking Authority discussed the proposed parking ordinance amendment and asked
questions as to how it would work and what would be required to change it.
Parking downtown is limited. What is available needs to be managed for efficiency. The Town has
received proposals to try valet parking on Town owned lots. There would be no cost to the Town for a
two to three month trial period.
Town should consider more parking lot construction along the lines of Lot 4.
PUBLIC COMMENT
The public was invited to speak at this point. It was mentioned that Pasadena has a successful valet
parking program. Scott Baker was asked to contact Pasadena about its program's problems and
solutions. The Walnut Creek and Pleasanton valet parking guidelines would be reviewed.
