TOWN COUNCIL
The Town Council/Parking Authority of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers
of the Town Hall, 110 East Main Street, at 7:43 p.m., Monday, September 9, 1991, in
regular session.
ROLL CALL
Present:Randy Attaway, Joanne Benjamin and Steven Blanton.
Absent:Eric D. Carlson and Mayor Brent N. Ventura.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Given by all in attendance.
HIGHWAY 17/SOUNDWALL/FARLEY & LARK/DISCUSSION
Town Manager, David Knapp, explained the Highway 17 Farley Road to Lark Avenue Sound
Wall Aesthetics displaying materials and plans for the project. The meeting was then
opened for discussion by acting chairperson, Joanne Benjamin.
The following people from the audience addressed this issue.
Ardith Sams, 522 Newville Dr., requested a two tone wall.
Mike Bomberger, 114 Dardanelli Ln., requested information on the measures to be used in
the protection of the existing freeway trees.
David Knapp, Town Manager, explained that the Council and staff had done all that was
possible to protect the existing trees in this vicinity.
There was no one else to speak to Council on this issue.
Motion by Mr. Blanton, seconded by Mr. Attaway, that Council adopt the use of the
materials, colors and pattern of option #2 offered by CalTrans. It was the consensus of
Council that the options offered were not appropriate and to pay more for alternatives that
were no better than the less expensive proposals was not warranted. The choice was made
from proposals that Council was not comfortable with and had consistently argued against
with CalTrans. Carried by a vote of 3 ayes. Mr. Carlson and Mayor Ventura absent.

Acting Chairperson Benjamin adjourned this meeting to the Study Session with Parks
