TOWN COUNCIL
The Town Council/Parking Authority met in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall at
8:05 p.m., in an adjourned special meeting.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT:Vice-Mayor Eric D. Carlson, Thomas J. Ferrito and Robert l.
Hamilton.
ABSENT:Joanne Benjamin and Mayor Brent N. Ventura
FIREWORKS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
The Town Manager reported on the request of the Centennial Committee for
additional funding of $25,000, to conduct the Centennial Fireworks Celebration. The
Council must decide whether to proceed with the fireworks and whether to
appropriate the additional $25,000 from either the Town's budget or the Centennial
Committee's budget. Emma Vargo, Fund Raising Chairman for the Centennial
Committee, stated she originally supported the fireworks display but because of cost
and safety, encourages a no vote on the fireworks. Nikki Clapp, Chairman of Special
Events, stated it is an expensive event and the Committee will understand if Council
doesn't allocate the extra funding. No action was taken by Council for the approval of
the additional funding. Therefore, there will not be a fireworks display for the Town of
Los Gatos Centennial Celebration.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Hamilton moved the meeting be adjourned at 8:10 p.m. to a Closed Session. Mr.
Ferrito seconded. Carried by a vote of three ayes. Mrs. Benjamin and Mayor
Ventura were absent.
