M 09-26-83TOWN OF LOS GATOS TOWN COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 26, 1983 TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall at 8:00 p.m., in regular session. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Joanne Benjamin, Terrence J. Daily, Thomas J. Ferrito and Mayor Brent Ventura. ABSENT None. CLOSED SESSION REPORT Mayor Brent Ventura stated Council has met in Closed Session prior to the Council meeting and personnel matters. ACQUISITION PROPERTY FROM COUNTY RE-VILLA VASONA The Town Manager spoke to Council on the Town's acquisition of the Villa Vasona property from Santa Clara County. The Town has anticipated payment later in the month but now payment may have to be paid earlier and stated a short term loan may be required so the Town would not lose its interest on deposit. After further discussion, Mrs. Benjamin moved for adoption of Resolution No. 1983-193 entitled, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE TOWN CLERK, AS DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, TO EXECUTE WHATEVER DOCUMENTS ARE NECESSARY TO ACQUIRE A SHORT-TERM LOAN. Mr. Daily seconded. Carried unanimously. INTERVIEWS-COUNCIL APPLICANTS Mayor Ventura stated this was the time and place duly published for interviews of Council applicants to fill the unexpired term of Council member Marlyn J. Rasmussen who resigned September 12, 1983. There are twelve applicants and these will be interviewed in order, using the States random alphabet drawing as used in the Town's last election. Applicants are John Lien, Allen Slutman, Harry Spence, James G. Delany, Lela Austin, Bert Millen, Charles Weber, Lynn Barrett, Eric Carlson, Robert Hamilton, John E. Hulme and Richard Gaines. Interviews were held of the seven applicants present. Mayor Ventura declared the chair open for nominations. Mrs. Benjamin moved to nominate Eric Carlson. Mr. Daily seconded. Carried unanimously. No more nominations were made. Mayor Ventura declared nominations closed. Mrs. Benjamin moved for the appointment of Eric Carlson to the Town Council to fill the unexpired term of Marlyn J. Rasmussen. Mr. Daily seconded. Carried unanimously. Mayor Ventura spoke on the qualified field of applicants received and expressed Council's thanks to applicants on their desire to serve the community. Mayor Ventura then reminded everyone of the vacancies on various Boards and Commissions in the Town and hopes they will consider applying. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Ventura declared the meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
