M 01-11-82TOWN OF LOS GATOS TOWN COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 11, 1982 TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos met in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall at 7:35 p.m., in regular session. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Thomas J. Ferrito, Marlyn J. Rasmussen, Brent N. Ventura and Mayor Peter Siemens. ABSENT: Ruth Cannon. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Given by all in attendance. REPORT RE EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Siemens reported on the Executive Session held prior to the Council meeting, stating Council had discussed the following matters: 1. Status of Villa Vasona litigation. 2. Status of Novitiate Park acquisition litigation. CHANGE OF ELECTION DATE FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTION Mr. Ventura moved for adoption of Ordinance No. 1524 entitled, AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS CHANGING THE DATE OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS FROM THE SECOND TUESDAY IN APRIL TO THE SAME DAY AS THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION. Mayor Siemens seconded. Carried by a vote of three ayes. Mrs. Rasmussen voting no. Discussion was held regarding language to be used in the mail notification to all registered voters in Los Gatos. Draft of said notification to be brought to Council for review at their February 1, 1982 meeting. REQUEST RE SPRING BALLET Mayor Siemens stated this request had been continued from the meeting of January 4, 1982, to allow Lucille Hogan, Chairwoman of the Cultural Resource Commission, to speak on this request. Mrs. Hogan stated that due to lack of available facilities in Los Gatos, she was here to request Council's permission to perform the Spring Ballet for children at West Valley College thereby servicing both Los Gatos and Saratoga. It was consensus of Council that due to Town's contribution to the Cultural Resources Commission for this they felt ballet should be performed in Los Gatos or if held in Saratoga, then Saratoga should contribute half of the money for the performance. Mrs. Hogan asked that no final decision be made until she further explores the possibility of the use of Fisher or Daves Avenue Schools. After further discussion, Mr. Ferrito moved that Council indicate its willingness to contribute $500.00, toward the ballet being held in Saratoga contingent on Saratoga matching that amount. Mr. Ventura seconded. unanimously carried. INTERVIEWING PLANNING COMMISSION APPLICANTS Mayor Siemens stated this was the time and place scheduled for interviews of applicants for the vacancy on the Planning Commission. Applicants are Robert Barrow, Donald L. Crum, Terrence Daily, Kathryn Morgan, Anne Patrus and Mildred Voelker. Nominated for the position were Terrence Daily, Mildred Voelker, Ann Patrus and Kathryn Morgan. Voting was held and Terrence Daily received the majority vote, and was appointed as Planning Commissioner to fill the unexpired term of Bradley Clifford. After said appointment Council directed the Town Clerk to do necessary advertising to notice the forth coming vacancy on the Youth Advisory Commission. ADJOURNMENT Mrs. Rasmussen moved meeting be adjourned at 8:15 p.m. Mr. Ferrito seconded. Unanimously carried.
