SUBJECT: ADOPT A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY’S EFFORT TO
ACHIEVE A NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA DESIGNATION BY THE U.S. NATIONAL
PARK SERVICE AND THE U.S. CONGRESS.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution in Support of Santa Clara County’s effort to achieve a National Heritage Area
Designation by the U.S. National Park Service and the U.S. Congress.
REMARKS:
Staff from the Santa Clara County Executive’s Office asked the Town to consider adopting a
resolution to support the County’s effort to achieve a National Heritage Area designation (see
Attachment 1). The County is requesting a similar resolution from all cities to strengthen its
application. The County has informed the Town that community response at its outreach
meetings has been positive.
ALTERNATIVES:
As alternatives to the recommendation, the Council may:
1. Adopt a resolution with modifications, or
2. Not adopt a resolution of support, or
3. Provide further direction.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The adoption of the resolution has no fiscal impact on the Town.
