Attachment 5 ATTACHMENT 5 From: M Millen Sent: Friday, January 11, 2019 12:21 PM To: Council <Council@losgatosca.gov> Subject: One way North Santa Cruz Ave. proposal and Public Art proposal Dear Council members, I wanted to write and express my strong opposition on two issues. First, I am opposed to the RFP that was issued to seek a consultant to look for ways to tax citizens to fund public art. This is terrible policy. It will raise the cost of housing and the cost of goods and services, and public art is always political, controversial, and most often ugly. It would be far wiser to loosen restrictions on creation and display of art on private property. Further, the Town hasnt even been able to cover most of the utility boxes with artwork, despite years of effort in this endeavor. Tax payer funded public art is wasteful and of dubious public value. Second, the one way street proposals are all poorly thought out. They will only move traffic snarl from the Hwy 9 intersection to the Bachman intersection. Since the Bachman/NSC intersection has no traffic lights it will be gridlock. There are also serious legal issues the Town has not considered regarding the implementation and reversal of this traffic plan, which I would be willing to discuss with the Town Attorney. The general loss of parking is also not good. This is the wrong set of proposals at the wrong time. Please do not support any of the "temporary" one way traffic proposals.
