DRAFT RESOLUTION 2018-
RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
DECLARING ELECTION RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON
NOVEMBER 6, 2018 AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held in the Town of Los Gatos on Tuesday,
the 6th day of November 2018; and,
WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form, and manner as provided by
law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and
that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes cast, receive d, and
canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form, and manner as required by the
provisions of the laws of the State of California, and the Town of Los Gatos; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 2016-030, adopted by the Town Council on June 5,
2018, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, at the direction of the Town Clerk of the Town
of Los Gatos, canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results in accordance
with applicable provisions of the California Elections Cod e to the Town Council. The results are
attached to this resolution as Exhibit A; and,
WHEREAS, the Statement of Votes Cast and final official summary results (Exhibit B),
attached to the Certification (Exhibit A), show the whole number of votes cast for each
candidate in said Town and in each of the respective precincts ; and,
WHEREAS, the total number of registered voters was 19,875 and the total number of
votes cast in person, absentee, and write-in ballots cast in the Town was 15,651 [78.75% Voter
Turnout]; and,
WHEREAS, the General Municipal Election was held for the purpose of electing three
members to the Office of Member of the Los Gatos Town Council, and the submission to the
qualified voters an ordinance regarding the Transactions and Use Tax [Measure G]; and
WHEREAS, the names of the persons voted for at the election for the Office of Member
of the Los Gatos Town Council for the term ending December 20, 2022 are as follows:

WHEREAS, the Town Council pursuant to its right and authority, ordered submitted to
the qualified voters the following question and ordinance [Measure G]:
“Shall the measure to fund essential Town
services such as maintaining neighborhood
police patrols; improving traffic flow to
reduce congestion; repairing potholes and
fixing neighborhood streets; maintaining the
Town’s long-term financial stability and other
unrestricted general revenue purposes by
enacting a one-eighth cent ($0.125%) sales
tax for 20 years, providing about $800,000
annually, requiring Independent Citizens
Oversight with public review of spending, and
all revenues controlled locally, be adopted?”

WHEREAS, the number of votes given at each precinct, the number of votes for each
qualified candidate and Measure G are attached as Exhibit A.
WHEREAS, the Town Council declares and determines that Steve Leonardis, Rob Rennie,
and Marico Sayoc were elected to the office of Member of the Los Gatos Town Council for the
term ending December 2022; and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council declares and determines that as a result of the election, a
majority of the voters voting on Measure G relating to the Town’s Transactions and Use Tax did
vote in favor of it, and that Measure G was carried, and shall be deemed ratified.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Town Clerk are hereby
authorized and directed to execute Ordinance 2274, “AN ORDINANCE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE
TOWN OF LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA IMPOSING A GENERAL TRANSACTIONS A ND USE TAX FOR
A PERIOD OF TWENTY YEARS;” and the Town Clerk shall certify to the passage of Ordinance
2274, by the People of the Town of Los Gatos, enter it into the book of original Ordinances and
cause such Ordinance to be codified in the Los Gatos Town Code.

Gatos, California, held on the 18th day of December, 2018 by the following vote:
