MINUTES OF THE TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
NOVEMBER 20, 2018
The Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos conducted a Regular Meeting on Tuesday,
November 20, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Rob Rennie, Vice Mayor Steve Leonardis, Council Member Marcia Jensen,
Council Member Marico Sayoc, Council Member Barbara Spector.
Absent: None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Alyssa Ackalloor led the Pledge of Allegiance. The audience was invited to participate.
COUNCIL/TOWN MANAGER REPORTS
Council Matters
- Council Member Spector stated she attended the Conceptual Development Advisory
Committee (CDAC) meeting and met with community members.
- Council Member Sayoc stated she attended the Cities Association Selection Committee
meeting, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) graduation as a graduate, the
League of California Cities Executive Committee, and the Senior Thanksgiving lunch.
- Mayor Rennie stated he attended the Emergency Area Council, the Valley Transportation
Authority Policy Advisory Committee, City Selection Committee of the Cities Association,
Silicon Valley Clean Energy Authority (SVCEA) Risk Oversight Committee, SVCEA Board, and
Council Policy Committee meetings; he did ribbon cuttings for Jackie O’Boutique and J
McLaughlin; and he participated in Poet Laureate interviews.
- Vice Mayor Leonardis stated he attended the Veteran’s Day Parade in San Jose, the West
Valley Sanitation District Board of Directors meeting, and the Treatment Plant Advisory
Committee meeting.
- Council Member Jensen stated she attended the CDAC meeting and the Council Policy
Committee meeting.
Manager Matters
- Announced Town administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 22
and 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
- Announced valet parking will begin on November 23.
- Announced the Tree lighting at Plaza Park on Friday, November 30, just before 6:00 p.m.

- Announced the Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 1.
CONSENT ITEMS (TO BE ACTED UPON BY A SINGLE MOTION)
1. Approve Commissioner Interview minutes of November 6, 2018.
2. Approve Council minutes of November 6, 2018.
3. Receive the First Quarter Investment Report (July through September 2018) for Fiscal Year
2018/19.
4. Council consideration of agreements:
A. SVRIA reimbursement
B. GTE Mobile Net/Verizon
5. Authorize the Town Manager to purchase one vehicle from National Auto Fleet Group in an
amount not to exceed $55,744.
MOTION: Motion by Council Member Jensen to approve the Consent Items. Seconded by
Vice Mayor Leonardis.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS
Larry Maggio, Commander of American Legion Post 99
- Expressed interest in utilizing the Tait Avenue property as a meeting space for Post 99.
Larry Leonardo, State Commander of American Legion
- Expressed interest in utilizing the Tait Avenue property as a meeting space for Post 99.
John Forrett, American Legion
- Expressed interest in utilizing the Tait Avenue property as a meeting space for Post 99 and
commented on the mission of the American Legion.
Karen Delaney
- Commented on the expectations of the Mayor as a spokesperson for the Town and the
process for selecting a Mayor.
Catherine Somers, Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
- Commended the Council for the progress that has been made in the last year with
streamlining approvals for businesses and commented on the Mayoral appointment
process.
APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR
Supervisor Wasserman presented a Certificate of Commendation to Mayor Rennie.

NOVEMBER 21, 2018
Town Manager Prevetti presented Mayor Rennie with a plaque and introduced a video
commemorating his year as Mayor.
Mayor Rennie thanked the Council and Town for their support during his year as Mayor, and
commented on achievements.
MOTION: Motion by Mayor Rennie to appoint Council Member Jensen as Mayor. Motion
failed for lack of a second.
MOTION: Motion by Council Member Jensen to appoint Vice Mayor Leonardis as Mayor.
Seconded by Council Member Spector.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Elect Leonardis
- Thanked the Council and the Town for his appointment as Mayor and commented on his
goals and objectives for the coming year.
MOTION: Motion by Council Member Sayoc to appoint Council Member Jensen as Vice
Mayor. Seconded by Council Member Spector.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
Vice Mayor Elect Jensen
- Thanked the Council for the nomination and commented she looks forward to working with
the Council to support the Mayor.
Town Clerk Shelley Neis administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Elect Leonardis and Vice
Mayor Elect Jensen.
Mayor Leonardis thanked all for attending and invited those present to the reception in the
Council Chambers Lobby.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m. for a reception.
