REMARKS: A Council Member requested clarification as to the staff recommendation not to join the proposed Airport Roundtable. Cost is one factor for the recommendation. Assuming all jurisdictions participate and the Roundtable’s first year budget is $250,000, the Los Gatos cost is approximately $5,500. If the Cities Association Board does not agree to the conditions requested by San Jose and Milpitas, the two cities will likely not join. The San Jose and Milpitas combined contributions of over $51,000 would then be distributed proportionately to th e participating cities. In other words, the cost of Los Gatos participation would rise above the current estimate. Other considerations include: • It is unclear how effective the Roundtable will be to influence FAA flight patterns and reduce noise. • Given the cost, uncertain effectiveness, and other Town’s priorities, is the Roundtable a good use of a Council Member’s time? • Once the Roundtable is established, the Town can join at any time. This gives the Town a chance to see if it a good use of the Town’s financial and time resources. Attachment previously received with the September 4, 2018 Report: 1.
