RECOMMENDATION: Inform the Cities Association Board of Directors that the Town of Los Gatos will not be participating in the proposed Airport Roundtable. BACKGROUND: On September 4, 2018, the Town Council began its discussion of this item and requested information regarding the interest from other cities in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties. DISCUSSION: In consultation with the Cities Association Executive Director, the following cities have voted to join the Roundtable: Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Monte Sereno, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale. Other jurisdictions have either not scheduled the item or will be considering it on September 18, 2018. The cities of Milpitas and San Jose voted for changes to the By -Laws to have representational voting (similar to the Valley Transportation Authority Board) and a 2/3 majority for an item to pass. In addition San Jose requested that staff work towards a regional approach, similar to the now defunct Regional Airport Planning Committee of the Association of Bay Area Governments. San Jose and Milpitas also indicated that before joining the Roundtable, the Federal Aviation Administration would need to have responded to the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on the South Flow. The Ad Hoc Committee was established by the San José City Council on October 3, 2017 PAGE 2 OF 2 SUBJECT: AIRPORT ROUNDTABLE SEPTEMBER 10, 2018 S:\COUNCIL REPORTS\2018\09-18-18\06 airport roundtable\Staff_Report.final.docx 9/13/2018 8:55 AM DISCUSSION (Continued): for the purpose of exploring possible solutions to address the noise impacts when weather conditions over the San Jose Mineta International Airport require aircraft to land from the north of the Airport instead of the usual landing from the south .
