RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
DESIGNATING LOS GATOS ARTS WEEK 190
WHEREAS, the performing arts, the visual arts, and
literature are central to human expression; and
WHEREAS, our identity as a people and as a Nation is
expressed through the arts; and
WHEREAS, support of the arts has been a partnership of
Federal, State and Local government entities, businesses, and
individuals; and
WHEREAS, the arts enhance our quality of life by helping
to define a nation's and a community's identity, values and
heritage, contributing to cross - cultural communication and
developing creative problem solving skills; and
WHEREAS, public investment in the arts stimulates
economic growth, attracts business and corporate investment to
communities, promotes downtown and neighborhood revitalization,
spurs tourism, enhances the image of our communities and nations,
and encourages innovation and inspiration in society; and
WHEREAS, a Presidentially- declared National Arts Week
provides a focal point to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage
of the United States and the vitality of contemporary writers,
artists, and performers; and

WHEREAS, a Presidentially- declared National Arts Week
brings together the public and private sectors to restate support
of the arts;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: that it is appropriate that from
September 23 through September 29, 1990, be declared as "LOS GATOS
ARTS WEEK 190" and call upon Town residents, businesses and
government agencies to observe such week with appropriate programs
and activities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town
Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 4th day
of September, 1990, by the following vote:
