RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
COMMENDING GENE GOLDBERG FOR 31 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE LOS GATOS - SARATOGA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION & RECREATION
AND THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, GENE GOLDBERG will be retiring November 30, 1988 after 31 years of
committed service to the Los Gatos - Saratoga Department of Community Education &
Recreation and the community; and
WHEREAS, community service plays a big part in GENE'S involvement as he is
an active member of the Los Gatos Lions and is a past president. GENE was
instrumental in birth of the Christmas Parade in our community and was Grand
Marshall in 1976; and
WHEREAS, the California Parks and Recreation Society awarded the 1987
California Parks and Recreation Citation Award to GENE for his "outstanding
contribution to the field of parks and recreation ". This award is one of the
highest honors bestowed by the Society. Factors that figured in the award were
the Recreation Department's outstanding day -care program, its summer- school
program and its constructive use of computers, both as a registration aid and
as a classroom instruction; and
WHEREAS, GENE was instrumental in pioneering new programs and having great
success. He has been sought out for his direction by other departments across
the country;
WHEREAS, GENE is an extremly well respected, involved and visable
contributor to Los Gatos. His opinions and leadership are always sought. He
is known as a man who gets things done and he is always receptive to new
ideas. His leadership will be missed in this community.
THEREFORE, THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS do deem it appropriate
and do hereby commend GENE GOLDBERG for his many contributions and for his
dedicated and loyal service to the Town of Los Gatos.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Los Gatos, California, held on the 7th day of November , 1988 by the
following vote:
