A TOWN OF LOS GATOS RESOLUTION
CONCERNING DUTIES OF MEMBERS OF BOARDS AND
COMMISSIONS OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS
AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION #1972 -1
WHEREAS, the efficient conduct of the Town's business requires the attention of
all of the members of appointive boards and commissions of the Town, and it is in
the interest of the Town to require reasonable attendance by members at the meetings
of such boards and commissions;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. Commissioners should call the Chair of the Commission or Board, or the
related Town department in advance of an absence of a meeting in order for
the absence to qualify as an excused absence.
2. If two or more consecutive meetings are to be missed, the member contact
the Chair in advance of the absences in order for them to qualify as
excused. (The Chair has the authority to excuse the absences).
3. If three or more consecutive meetings are to be missed the members must
write a note to the Chair stating the reason for the absence and request
that the absences be shown as excused.
4. Absences from three consecutive regular meetings without formal consent of
the Chair is deemed to constitute a resignation. Appeal can be made to the
Town Council. Appeal must be received by the Town in the Clerk's Office
within seven days of the last absence.
5. If, after three consecutive unapproved absences, an appeal is not received
by the Town Clerk's Office; or if the appeal is denied; or if a member of a
Commission or Board is removed from the Commission or Board; then, the
vacant position shall be filled by appointment by a majority vote of the
Town Council, and shall be for the unexpired portion of the term of office
vacated.
6. A member of a Commission or Board may be removed from the Commission or
Board prior to the end of their term by a four- fifths vote of Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall rescind resolution #1972 -1.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Los Gatos, California, at
a regular meeting held this 6 day of Sept. , 1988, by the following vote:
