A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF LOS GATOS CONCERNING AMENDMENTS TO THE
LAND USE ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL PLAN
REGARDING THE MERGER OF NONCONFORMING LOTS
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Government Code Section 65353, the Town Council con-
ducted a public hearing for consideration of amendments to the Land Use Element
of the Los Gatos General Plan on June 18, 1988.
WHEREAS, during this hearing the Town Council considered all of the items
shown in Planning Commission Resolution No. 88 -2.
WHEREAS,the amendments included in this Resolution shall be considered Gen-
eral Plan Amendment No. 1 for 1988.
RESOLVED: The Town Council finds that Los Gatos General Plan Amendment
GP -88 -1 is (a) internally consistent with the Town General Plan, and (b) that
all proceedings have been conducted in compliance with the provisions of Govern-
ment Code Section 65350 et seq.
FURTHER RESOLVED: Town Council hereby amends the General Plan Land Use Ele-
ment to read as follows:
2.2 ISSUES
11. Lot Mergers - Due to the age of the Town and the lack of
regulations to control the design of subdivisions, many
subdivisions were recorded that created lots that are
unbuildable by current standards. If these lots are allowed to
be developed, the character of many residential neighborhoods
would be impacted by the increased density and traffic. What
should be done with these lots?
2.4 POLICIES
18. The Town shall not recognize subdivisions that occurred prior to
the adoption of the Town's Subdivision Ordinance in 1963 unless
the parcels that were created conform with adopted standards
establishing minimum lot size, sewage disposal, water supply,
slope density and access.
2.5 IMPLEMENTATION
14. Lot Mergers: The Town shall develop minimum standards that
will be used to recognize parcels that were created prior to the
adoption of the Town's Subdivision Ordinance in 1963.
