A RESOLUTION STATING THE NECESSITY OF REDUCTION OF
WATER USE IN THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA
IN CALENDAR YEAR 1988
WHEREAS, because this is the second consecutive dry year in our Valley
and in much of California and the primary impact of the drought on us is declining
groundwater levels;
WHEREAS, we are primarily concerned about a third year of drought in 1989;
WHEREAS, noting the current and worsening shortage in water supplies
available to users within the Town of Los Gatos;
WHEREAS, the Town Council challenges the Water District to prudently
manage the existing water resources;
WHEREAS, the Town Council encourages the District to aggressively pursue
the facility repairs to Lexington Reservoir so that the reservoir is not drained
during times of drought as this is a critical source of water for fire control;
WHEREAS, the Town Council does hereby resolve, find and determine that
it is necessary there be a reduction in water use by the residents of the Town
of Los Gatos during calendar year 1988 by 15% compared to the same uses during
calendar year 1987.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 20th day of June 1988
by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS Thomas J. Ferrito, Robert L. Hamilton,
Brent N. Ventura and Mayor Eric D. Carlson
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS Joanne Benjamin
