RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS GATOS WHICH APPROVES AN
AMENDh7EiNT TO THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR SANTA CLARA COUNTY
ADDING THE POLICY ON IMPORTATION OF SOLID HASTE FROM OUTSIDE
SANTA, CLARA COUNTY AND CONCURS WITH THE COUNTY'S ADOPTION
OF A NEGATIVE DECLARATION UNDER CEQA
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Intergovernmental Council, the principal
advisory committee on County -wide solid waste planning in Santa Clara County,
recommends approval of an amendment to the County Solid Waste Management Plan
which adds the policy entitled "Policy on Importation of Solid ,Waste from
Outside Santa Clara County ", and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has prepared the 'amendment in accordance
with Section 17155 of Title 14 of the California Administrative Code, and has
submitted the same to each of the cities of the County for action pursuant to
Section 17160 of Title 14 of the California Administrative Code, with the
intention of securing approval of a majority of the cities within the County
which contain a majority of the population of the incorporated area of the
County; and
WHEREAS, said amendment is considered a project under the provisions of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); and
WHEREAS, said amendment as prepared enhances the County -wide solid waste
planning process by establishing a policy with regard to the importation of
solid waste; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors as lead agency has
considered the Negative Declaration and the comments received thereon, and
found that the proposed amendment could not have significant effect on the
environment since it simply proposes a solid waste planning process; and
WHEREAS, the Town concurs with that Negative Declaration; and
tJOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Los
Gatos, State of California, in accordance with the above findings and
determinations, that the Negative Declaration on the amendment to the County
Solid Haste Management Plan adding the Policy on Importation of Solid Waste
from Outside Santa Clara County, is hereby approved and adopted; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Amendment to the County Solid Waste
Management Plan establishing the "Policy on Importation of Solid Waste from
Outside Santa Clara County" is hereby approved and adopted,
PASSED AND ADOPTED at 8 regular meeting Of the Town Council of the
Town of Los Gatos, California, held on the 16 day of , 1987
by the following vote.
